Why Egypt

Five thousand years that still
ask to be understood

Egypt is not simply a country to visit — it is a civilisation to encounter. The weight of it is physical: you feel it standing before the Pyramids at dawn, sailing south on a dhow as Karnak's pylons rise from the palms, or descending into the sealed world of the Valley of the Kings with a private Egyptologist who has spent a lifetime reading its walls.

Our role is to remove the friction and give you the access. Sunrise visits to Karnak before the groups arrive. A four-night luxury dahabiya cruise between Luxor and Aswan — intimate, unhurried, shaped around the riverbank rather than a port schedule. Private transfers from the moment you land in Cairo.

For travellers drawn to combine Egypt with Turkey or Greece, we design a single seamless arc across three civilisations — one itinerary, one point of contact, one standard of care throughout.

Egypt Travel FAQ

Before You Plan

When is the best time to visit Egypt?

October through April offers the most comfortable conditions for exploring Egypt's monuments and sailing the Nile — mild temperatures make long days at Karnak and the Valley of the Kings genuinely pleasurable. July and August bring extreme heat, particularly in Upper Egypt, and we advise against them for comprehensive itineraries. Our team plans every journey around season and pacing, scheduling early-morning access to the major sites before midday sun sets in.

Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Most nationalities — including citizens of the US, UK, EU countries, Canada and Australia — can obtain an Egyptian e-visa online before departure, which is straightforward and processed in a matter of days. Some nationalities receive a visa on arrival at Cairo International Airport. Our team confirms your specific entry requirements during the planning phase and sends a step-by-step guide well ahead of your travel date.

Is Egypt safe for travellers?

Egypt's primary tourist regions — Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea coast — are safe and well-established for international travel. Our team handles all logistics through vetted local partners, private transfers and carefully chosen accommodation, so you move through each destination with confidence. We monitor conditions continuously and adjust itineraries if anything changes, and your dedicated specialist is reachable throughout your journey.

What's typically included in a Nile cruise?

On our Nile Legacy journey we favour the dahabiya — a traditional Egyptian sailing vessel — over the larger cruise ships, which gives you an intimate, unhurried experience of the river and its banks. Included are all meals on board, guided visits to Karnak, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings and Kom Ombo with our private Egyptologist, and private transfers between sites. The dahabiya carries a small number of guests, meaning exclusive access without the crowds that define the larger vessels.

Can I combine Egypt with Turkey or Greece?

Yes — we operate several multi-country journeys that link Egypt with Turkey and Greece as part of a single, seamlessly managed itinerary. The Three Empires trilogy, for example, connects Istanbul, Athens and Cairo through civilisations that shaped the ancient world. All cross-border logistics — flights, visa timelines, accommodation transitions — are handled by our team across both countries, so the journey reads as one continuous experience rather than separate trips bolted together.

How do you handle visits to active religious sites?

Egypt's mosques, Coptic churches and ancient temples each carry their own protocols, and our Egyptologists and local guides are well versed in all of them. We schedule visits to active mosques outside prayer times, brief all guests on appropriate dress and conduct in advance, and handle any introductions or permissions that special-access sites require. The aim is always to experience these places as a respectful guest rather than a tourist passing through.
